Common Questions About UPSC Photo & Signature

According to official Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) guidelines, candidate photographs must be in JPG/JPEG format with pixel dimensions between 350 x 350 pixels (minimum) and 1000 x 1000 pixels (maximum). The file size must strictly range between 20 KB and 300 KB.

The UPSC signature must have pixel dimensions between 350 x 350 pixels (minimum) and 1000 x 1000 pixels (maximum), and a file size strictly between 20 KB and 300 KB in JPG/JPEG format. The signature must be signed with black ink on clean white unruled paper. Signatures in capital/block letters are not permitted.

Yes. Latest UPSC examination notices specify that the candidate's photograph should not be more than 10 days old from the date of application. The candidate's name and the date on which the photograph was taken must be clearly printed at the bottom of the photograph.

Upload your signature image to our UPSC Photo & Signature Editor above, switch to the "UPSC Signature" tab, and the tool will automatically lock the dimensions to 350 x 350 pixels and compress the file cleanly into the 20 KB to 300 KB range with pure white background contrast.

Yes. UPSC allows square aspect ratio (such as 350x350 px, 500x500 px, or 1000x1000 px) or standard 3:4 portrait ratios, as long as both height and width do not exceed 1000 pixels and are not smaller than 350 pixels.

UPSC strictly mandates a plain white or light-coloured background with three-fourths (75%) face coverage. Photos taken against dark or cluttered backgrounds are frequently flagged during scrutiny and can result in application rejection.
