Compliant Passport Photo
Plain white background, 75% face coverage, both ears visible, neutral expression, crisp focus.
Dark Background
Colored, dark gray, outdoor, or patterned wall backgrounds will cause automatic rejection.
Caps or Sunglasses
Hats, caps, or tinted glasses obscuring the face outline or eyes will invalidate the photo.

How to Upload Photo & Signature on the RRB NTPC Portal
Log in to the official railway application portal (e.g. rrbapply.gov.in) with your Registration Number and Password.

RRB NTPC Photo & Signature FAQs
According to the official Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) Centralized Employment Notice (CEN), candidate photographs must have dimensions of 35 mm x 45 mm (standard 320 x 240 pixels or 350 x 450 pixels) and a file size strictly between 20 KB and 50 KB in JPG/JPEG format.
The RRB NTPC signature must be between 10 KB and 20 KB (or up to 40 KB in select CEN notifications) in JPG/JPEG format, with preferred dimensions of 140 x 60 pixels. The signature must be signed on plain white unruled paper using black or dark blue ink. Signatures in all capital/block letters are strictly rejected.
When the RRB application portal displays "dimensions 140 x 60 pixels preferred", it means the signature image should have an aspect ratio of 7:3 (140 pixels wide by 60 pixels tall). This standard ensures your signature renders sharply on the railway admit card and attendance sheets without distortion.
A valid RRB NTPC sample photo must be a recent color passport-style photograph (taken within the last 6 months) against a plain light or white background. The candidate's face must occupy 70% to 80% of the frame with a straight, neutral expression, both ears visible, eyes open, and without caps, hats, dark sunglasses, or tinted spectacles.

Clear, non-tinted prescription glasses are permitted only if worn regularly by the candidate, provided there is no glare, reflection, or frame covering any part of the eyes. Dark sunglasses, goggles, or colored contact lenses are completely prohibited and will lead to application rejection.
The top reasons for RRB photo rejection include: selfie photos, group photos, non-white or patterned backgrounds, head tilted or sideways pose, face covered by shadow or hair, file size above 50 KB or below 20 KB, and poor image resolution under 200 DPI.
